Blessed Savior Lutheran Church believes that through our Lord Jesus Christ we have been given many gifts and opportunities to reach people in need through our mission outreach programs. Listed below are some of our current programs, for more information please contact our church office.

African Hymnal Project

Every three months, the members of Blessed Savior Lutheran Church-New Berlin-select a special mission project to support through various gift offerings. Last quarter we contributed the $3,300 for the African Hymnal Project. This project translates the Lutheran Hymnal for missions in Kenya, the Ivory Coast, Sudan and the Congo. If you would like to watch a sister congregation of ours sing hymns like “A Mighty Fortress Is Our God”, go to the following links. They will take you to two blogs containing video clips of these Christians signing praises to God using their new hymnals! Both Liturgy Solutions, and Hymn Singing in Brazzaville have video clips and additional information for you.

Bethesda Group Home

Our church has two very special member families. These are the family members of two group homes for developmentally disabled persons supported through Bethesda. Each week our special members are able to worship with us. Blessed Savior also supports these two homes with cards, visits and pastoral care. Please follow this link for more information on Bethesda Lutheran Communities.

Military Missions

Through this ministry we have the opportunity to share our love and support of the men and women who are serving in the military. We support them by praying for them and sending letters, Portals of Prayer booklets and other needed items to them. Watch our calendar for the next packing date.

Sewing for Missions

This mission ministry is providing handmade quilts to developing countries. Handmade school bags are filled with school supplies and shipped to Lutheran World Relief to better equip many children to attend school. Project Linus was added this year to enable our youth to get involved with this mission effort.  These handmade blankets are provided to children in need.

Food for Friends

Through the abundance of gifts we have been blessed with, our congregation collects and shares with several community outreach centers. The New Berlin Food Pantry, Cooperating Congregations of Waukesha County, Blessed Again Resale Shop are some of the organizations that we gather needed items for. Watch our calendar for the the next collection date.

Lutheran Women’s Missionary League (LWML)

Our Women’s Ministry Organization is a member of and supports the District and National LWML. We gather with other local district churches to host events, attend rallies, retreats and conventions.  This year the National LWML has a mission goal of $1,825,000. Monthly the congregations supports this worthy cause by offering their mites. For more information on the missions that are supported, and the many opportunities offered through this membership, please see the LWML website.

Extended Ministry Endowment Fund

The Blessed Savior Extended Ministry Endowment Fund was established to support local and overseas mission efforts. Each year we are blessed to be able to increase these gifts to not only spread the gospel to other countries, but to assist local agencies in their ministerial work.  Through the financial gifts of members and friends we have been able to support mission work that is not included in our annual budget. Please see the  Extended Ministry Endowment Fund page for more information on the work that is being supported by those contributions.

Mitten Tree

Each year as our Wisconsin winters approach, our congregation gathers mittens for people in need throughout our community. Members donate and decorate our winter tree with mittens in all sizes. Some of our talented members enjoy handcrafting these warm necessities at our craft night.
