Our Mission

To assist each woman in affirming her personal relationship with the Triune God so that she is enabled to use her gifts in ministry to the people of her church, her community and her world. As Christian women, we realize that God has given each one of us many talents, here we can find opportunities to use those gifts.

Membership

As each woman becomes a confirmed member of Blessed Savior Lutheran Church, she becomes a member and sister in Women’s Ministries. Our Women’s Ministries is also a member of the Lutheran Women’s Missionary League (LWML). For additional information on any of these activities you may contact the church office. Activities

Bereavement Committee

This group of women is committed to serving our members who are facing the difficult situation of planning a funeral meal or reception.  They assist the bereaved family with planning the meal or reception, setting up the fellowship hall, serving and cleaning up. Our Bereavement Committee would welcome your help with this special heartfelt service we offer our church members.

Bible Studies

Delve into God’s Word while enjoying Christian support and friendship. This women’s Bible study is held the 2nd and 4th Tuesday of each month at the home of one of our members.  It is a friendly setting that encourages each other to grow in faith.

Crafts

The first Friday evening of each month is devoted to crafts, scrapbooking, sewing, whatever your favorite craft may be. Come for the entire evening or for just awhile; we gather in the fellowship hall beginning at 4:00 pm until midnight.

Diana’s Angels Project

In response to the need for burial clothing for premature babies, our volunteers come together to sew garments, crochet booties and sew receiving blankets to meet the requests of the local hospitals which we serve.

Quilting

Creating quilts to bring comfort and share God’s love with people in third world countries, a group of women come together each Wednesday to cut squares, sew or finish by tying. No experience required, just come to the fellowship hall at 9:00 am any Wednesday morning.

Events

Information for the following events, and the persons to contact for each of these appear on the Women’s Ministries bulletin board located just outside the library. Please stop by and check our communications board for more information on each of these events as they are posted.

Retreats

In the spring and fall each year we have the opportunity to attend a retreat with the LWML.  Each retreat features speakers from various backgrounds, Bible studies, singing, servant events and wonderful Christian fellowship. Treat yourself to an inspirational weekend away and join us for the next LWML retreat. The next retreat will be held October 15th and 16th of 2010 at the Holiday Inn in Manitowoc. For more information visit the SWD-LWML website.

Christmas by Candlelight

This annual Christmas tradition at Blessed Savior is a welcoming event for members, family and friends. The fellowship hall is transformed under the candlelight and beauty of Christmas Table Settings. Each one is unique, as each hostess brings her own dishes, centerpiece and creativity to her table. Tickets are always in demand for this enchanting evening. Usually held the beginning of December, it is one event to watch for. The committee welcomes new ideas and would love to hear from you if you are interesting in planning or hosting a table for this event.

Salad Supper

Join us each spring as we gather for an evening of delicious salads and desserts prepared by our members. We encourage our members to bring their favorite dish to share. Guests are always welcome as we gather for the delicious food and enjoy an evening highlighted with a speaker or demonstration that is certain to lift up your spirits. After the long winter and in anticipation of the beauty of the coming spring, our women eagerly look forward to this event. It is usually a full house, so you want to purchase your tickets promptly for this sell out event.

Other Fellowship Events

Throughout the year other events are held to appeal to all age groups. There maybe a tour planned, project demonstrations which are then crafted by those in attendance or an interesting speaker. Quarterly meetings are held in which we encourage all women to attend, these are especially important as the new year is planned, officers are elected and grants are voted on.
