Palm Sunday
Matthew 21:5
The true King of Kings is kind indeed, no matter what he rides. Kings who need to show who they are by pompous extravaganza are not true kings. Our king came riding on a donkey, gave Himself up for His subjects and granted them eternal life. This is the true King of Kings!
Fifth Sunday in Lent
Jeremiah 31:31
The Lord promised through Jeremiah that He would make a new covenant with the House of Israel. The old covenant had failed, because only the Lord kept His part of the deal. In Christ, a new covenant is established: sins are confessed and forgiven without a sacrifice, because Christ offered Himself for us.
Fourth Sunday of Lent
John 3:16
All three Scripture readings extol the grace and mercy of God. He forgave the Israelites; He granted us a new life; He sent His Son into the world to save the world from everlasting condemnation.
Second Sunday of Lent
Mark 8:29
One minute Peter correctly answers Jesus’ question. The next, he reveals his ignorance about Jesus’ work on Earth. Peter demonstrates in his person how whimsical we all can be. May the Lord keep us focused in the true faith.
