Earthly kings make much of their triumphal entries. Weeks of preparations preceded this auspicious occasion. Not so with Jesus. He, through being true God, puts on the form of a humble servant. He serves us in His death.

Jesus catechizes His disciples in the way of the cross, revealing that He will be condemned and put to death “and after three days he will rise” (Mark 10:33–34). But the Twelve do not understand.
There has never been a single person who earned heaven. Heaven, salvation, the forgiveness of sin and a sanctified life are all gifts from God. It is through Christ’s sacrifice for us that we are saved.

Peter teaches us why it is wise to trust in God and not in ourselves. In one moment he shines, only to drop the ball in the next. Peter learned from his short-sighted view of Christ. He ended up being killed for his faith.
Jesus stayed with His parents in Nazareth until He was thirty years old. Then He went to the Jordan to be baptized by John, and then He started His ministry. He was endorsed by the Father – just like we are at Baptism.
