Death has been destroyed! We celebrate the new life in Christ because it is eternal and perfect. The disgrace has been removed from us. We are free from the wages of sin. We rejoice in the resurrection – Christ’s and ours.
Earthly kings make much of their triumphal entries. Weeks of preparations preceded this auspicious occasion. Not so with Jesus. He, through being true God, puts on the form of a humble servant. He serves us in His death.
Jesus catechizes His disciples in the way of the cross, revealing that He will be condemned and put to death “and after three days he will rise” (Mark 10:33–34). But the Twelve do not understand.
There has never been a single person who earned heaven. Heaven, salvation, the forgiveness of sin and a sanctified life are all gifts from God. It is through Christ’s sacrifice for us that we are saved.
There were countless images of pagan gods. People carved them out of wood, stone, or cast them in metal. Now, the one true God forbids His people to make an image of Him. He is different.
